Make Sure Your Child is Helmet-Safe This School Year

Q: What’s wrong with this picture?

A: The boy’s helmet sits too far back on his head….


Lots of kids are heading to school on bicycles this year. Make sure yours stay safe and wear a properly fitting helmet. After all, a bicycle helmet protects best when worn correctly. When you or your child wear a bicycle helmet make sure that:  

  • It fits snuglly
  • It sits straight (level) on the head with the front edge about an inch above your eyebrows
  • It is not gouged, cracked, or damaged and
  • It has not been involved in an accident (even if it looks fine)
